Meet the Librarian
Tanya Abramovitch (a.k.a. The Library Girl) is a bibliofiend and the Director of the Eleanor London Côte Saint Luc Public Library in the Greater Montreal area. Educated at McGill University, she has Masters’ degrees both in history and library and information studies. She is also the President of the Public Libraries Division of the Quebec Library Association for the 2006-2007 year.
Her purpose in life and work is to stimulate and inspire the intellects of others, especially through reading. Although non-fiction is her great love, she voraciously reads as many books (and types of books) as she can fit into her busy schedule. There is little on this earth that TLG is not curious about.
Tanya currently leads the Stranger than Fiction Book Club at her library, and has given lectures on the Pleasures of Non-Fiction, in addition to animating a discussion group called The Symposium: Discussions On a Complex World. She will be speaking at the St. James Literary Society and the Jewish Women’s International next spring.
